Our Facial Cleansers Line-Up

With new products hyped and talked about so regularly, it’s easy to forget the product that is the building block of your entire skincare routine – the facial cleanser. It’s time to go back to basics, as we report our favourite facial cleansers of all time. Notepad at the ready…

A key staple in our rotation is the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. We can safely say that our skin is left feeling extremely soft and clean from first use, and the results really are immediate. It’s the product that really changed the (skincare) game for us, and a great place to start for anyone looking to build a skincare routine from scratch.

There’s a bevy of excellent budget skincare ranges on the market at the moment, and long gone are the days of Clearasil as the only affordable option. For those on a tighter budget, we love the Superdrug Brightening Cleanser which acts as suitable alternative to the Liz Earle one. With fruit extracts and cocoa butter, this cleanser cleans the skin of impurities and make up, leaving the skin soft and brightened. Aside from a slightly stronger scent coming from the Superdrug offering, we can barely notice the difference.

Pinpointing your specific skincare concerns and needs is important as there are many cleansers which are tailored to suit certain concerns. For example, the REN Clearcalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser is the dream for blemish-prone skin, the French clay and zinc are the perfect duo for combating blemishes. After using the Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil for a couple of months now, we can report that its claims to brighten and refresh skin are true. We use it as a part of a double cleanse, following it up with either the Liz Earle or REN offerings to leave skin clean, free of makeup and looking much more radiant.

What cleanser can your skincare routine not be without? Which one of these cleansers will you be adding to your shopping list?
